UM Scholarships and Awards

The University of Michigan Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi is proud to announce that it bestowed scholarships totaling $7,500 on April 1, 2012. In order to be considered, each applicant must qualify for the specific criteria and either already be a member of the University of Michigan chapter or have been invited to membership, completed the election form and paid national and chapter dues by March 17, 2012.

Additional scholarships will be awarded in Spring 2013. Watch this page for instructions, deadline dates and the 2013 application.

 

Scholarships and Awards

• $2000 scholarship for 1 junior
• $2,500 scholarship for 1 senior going on to graduate study at U of M
• $3,000 research award for 1 graduate student continuing their studies at U of M

Evaluation Criteria

1. Reflect the mission of Phi Kappa Phi: “To recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others.”
2. Represent the excellence of those involved in the University of Michigan community.
3. Demonstrate academic excellence.
4. Have received significant awards and recognitions, especially University scholastic honors and awards.
5. Have engaged in meaningful activities (cultural, social, athletic, political, job-related, or other) and have held positions of leadership at the University and in the community.
6. Have developed significant and well-defined ongoing educational and long-term goals.
7. Have received faculty endorsement.
8. Scholarship Recipients will be expected to serve as a Student Vice President (SVP) for the 2012-2013 Academic Year.
